Malaysia telemarketer phone numbers: List of numbers to block and avoid

Update: Added more phone numbers (11 May 2012)
You have been there before. You are in a middle of work or in a middle of a conversation when your handphone rings. You answer the call, and the voice at the other end says, “Good day! You have been selected from our list to enjoy our special discount….”
Yes, it is one of those irritating telemarketers. They are pushy, aggressive, relentless, and bordering on scammers. Moreover, they work as a team, so one day it might be a guy called “Azli” and the next time, it would be someone else called “Sharon” trying to push through a sale, be it a personal bank loan, a service upgrade, credit card, insurance, or time share.
Fortunately, we can take back our handphones. Smartphones have apps that can block phone calls and even text messages. We essentially enter phone numbers we wish to block, and if a call matches the blocked list, the smartphone app blocks the call by picking up the call, then hanging up. Most blocking apps can even work with partial phone numbers.
Unfortunately, finding a list of telemarketing numbers is difficult. There are some websites like whocallsme.com, operating like a forum, that we can use to check if a number belonged to a telemarketer. But we have to know the phone number first, then check the number. In short, there is no recent and dependable website that has a list of telemarketer numbers which we can copy and paste into our phone blocking app. I managed to find only one website that has a list of Malaysian telemarketer numbers, but that site has not been updated since 2009.
Consequently, I thought it might be a good idea if I start a site (this blog) where people contribute known and confirmed phone numbers that belong to telemarketers, as well as scammers and spammers.
Here are list of phone numbers of telemarketers, scammers, and spammers. Please post a comment or contact me (using the Contact option in this blog) to contribute more phone numbers into this list. I will credit you unless you tell me specifically not to do so.
I am grateful to the original blogger who maintained the list of telemarketer numbers, and I have added that original list into my list below.
Update (Feb. 17, 2012):
I initially setup this entry as a list of telemarketer phone numbers. Since then, I noticed a growing list of scammer phone numbers. As advised by many, always be careful with giving out personal details about ourselves over the phone. This include details on our credit card number and its three-digit security code. Do not trust even if they claim they are from your favourite bank, and they are doing some security check.Update (Apr. 22, 2012):
One method scammers try to obtain your sensitive information is by making two calls to you. The first call is to obtain your full name (if they don’t have it already) and your IC number. They may pretend to be an agent doing a survey or helping you to join some contest — or even to verify your identity in some contest which you have previously joined. The first call is not to obtain your bank account or credit card number. This is for the second call that would be made to you a few months later when you have forgotten about the first call. In the second call, the scammers would tell you your full name and IC number to gain your trust, after which they would then ask for your bank account or credit card number. In short, don’t tell them anything about yourself over the phone to strangers.

Thanks for the correction. I will update the list.
If your children or family members makes a decent living from telemarketing, wouldn’t you feel sad when you learned they have suffered
because of what you have done? The way to handle such calls is to say ” I am sorry I am in a meeting or I am busy right now, can I call you back?”
Sorry for pouring cold water.
Thank you for your comment. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to distinguish between real and fake (scam) telemarketers. Even dealing with bona fide telemarketers has several problems, one of which is they interrupt our work and saying like, “I’ll call you back” often won’t work either because they won’t pick up the phone when you do (actually) call them back. To me, telemarketers are like email spam. No one likes spam. Sure, once in a blue moon, we might receive a spam that piques our interest enough to reply the spam. But most of the time, spam clog our email and make it difficult to distinguish between important (real) and nonsense emails.
Yeah, sure, one day, we might get a call from a telemarketer offering us something we do find interesting enough to respond. But that is a very rare case. Most of the time (like email spam), telemarketing calls interrupt our lives. Justifying telemarketing simply on the basis that it is a job that feeds our families is wrong. That is like saying it is okay to shout random words at people in public because someone is paying us to do it.
If you look at whocallsme.com website, you would find lots of angry/annoyed/wary people enquiring about telemarketing, frequent missed, or suspicious (e.g., calls then hangs up phenomenon) phone calls.
I also got phone calls from these numbers :
03-20357230 – Credit card
016-3397020 – Credit card
Thank you for your contribution. I will add your numbers into the above list in my next update.
Thank you. I have benefited from your post.
Thanks for the encouragement!
THANKS! You’re godsend!
Many thanks!
Thank you so much for your post. Keep up the good work! ^_*
Received phone calls from these numbers today: 0327813100 (2 times) and 0327275000(1 times). Googled the numbers and voila here i am.
I believed they came from the same company- selling insurance bla bla bla. Very annoying especially when you are in the rajin working mode!
Thanks for confirming these numbers.
my huge thanks to you for taking such effort publishing this useful info. also goes to those people who contribute those details. i just found what i was looking for here, in this blog. and, about your justification towards the telemarketing thingy to one of our friends here, i am totally agree with it. such a clear cut example u gave there.
i vote for people who actually do something good to the society. we are all bz with our own things. but still, there are people who actually taking extra miles putting sumtin useful and help others out. sumtin that totally NOT in their job description. one of them, is you. thank you so much.
zack.
Thank you for your vote of confidence! I would be updating the list of numbers very soon. Have a good day!
OMG! thank you so much!
Thank you.
a number 03 2600 9200 just called me lol
I just google this number and i found your website.
Those darn telemarketers! Thanks for your visit and comments.
03-2787-4200 (General telemarketer for insurance; Added 09 Dec. 2011) special offer for birthday…kih kih..find your blog after google this number..thanks christopher…
Darn those telemarketers! No mercy even on your birthday…Happy birthday, BTW.
Just got a call last weekend on these 2 numbers, 016 2627654 and 016 2627650. They are offering discount card for hotel bookings via your credit cards. Wonder who is providing them our hp number? The banks?
Yes, I believe banks would sell our numbers and details to interested buyers. There’s money to be made.
I once got a message from unknown number offering me list of potential client at the cost of only RM0.40 cent. Being annoyed, I’ve deleted the message straight away. Should come here next time if it happens again.
Yes, our private details are either being shared or sold to others. Information about our salary, age, gender, race, job, and interests are crucial to marketing people.
Thanks a lot for your effort in updating this list.
I have been receiving missed calls from this number: 03-2179-6600 for the past 2 days. As I got to pick up the call on the first time, found out that it was the telemarketer from Public Bank. I was not convenient to talk during working hours hence had requested to call back.
But instead of calling back, what I get is just a bunch of missed calls. I have put a complaint to the bank on this issue as well.
Thank you for the number. I will add this number in the list in my next update. Die, telemarketers!
May I know who have experience receiving call from this number 03 2056 4600. Thank you for the information.
Received few missed calls from 03-20544672. Called back, voice mail answered, claiming they’re calling from AIA. However was in doubt when recognizing weird English pronunciation (well, having weird feeling when heard the weird pronunciation, calling from AIA, oh?)
Google AIA at the first place, to check their hotline number, besides I have no idea what is AIA, poor me.
Googled the number, and dangg, landed here. Many thanks sir!^^
AIA is the insurance company, and they are notorious telemarketers even on their own customers. If you don’t have an insurance, they will offer you one. And if you already have one, they offer you an upgrade or better insurance plan. If you say “not interested”, they will remind you how fragile, precious, and short your life can be — the guilt and scare sale.
Been receiving calls from 03-79501177, claiming to be representative of Hong Leong bank, offering to increase credit card limit as well as loan through phone at only 0.3% interest rate. This no is not in your list but could be an extension of 03-79501111 or 03-79501133 though…
Thanks for the numbers. I will add those numbers in my next update. I believe some range of phone numbers are telemarketers.
Just received a call from this number 03-2600-9200. Introduce from AIA. The way she talked just like bullet train…What I hear is abput VISA and I said that I never applied for visa and even don’t have the visa card..but she keep said that ATM card is actually Visa Card and keep talked and talked…I just said I’m meeting and she want to call me back evening.
She is probably reading some text in front of her, or probably spoke fast so you don’t have time to interrupt! Block this number. Once you pick up, your phone number would be marked ‘active’ so you would continue to be called by telemarketers.
Received a call from 013-2134198 this evening. The caller said she was from Takaful Insurance and wanted to check my details. They mentioned my full name, IC number and interestingly even my CC number. The interesting part was that the caller also requested for my CC’s expiry date and also the 3 digits behind the card. I felt something was wrong and told her immediately i was not interested. The caller immediately hung up.Cancelled my credit cards immediately afterwards as i felt that most of my details have already been compromised
Thanks for contributing this number. I will add this number to the list in my next update. You were right to decline to give them the info. Very suspicious…
FANTASTIC SITE!
Just got a call from 03-76267000 this morning and found it listed under your blog. Who is this??
You can also add the following:
016 9777806 (Prank callers / Pervert)
012 3291038 (Prank callers / Pervert)
019 6326688 (Prank callers / Pervert)

I suspect these are all the same person. Have been getting around 20 calls a day for the past 30 days from these numbers at random hours in the morning. Picked up and they wont say anything, just heavy breathing. Started ignoring the calls (did not pick up since then) and they started sending SMS in Chinese saying “I want to be friends” at freaking 5.20am. Because I blocked the first number (016 9777806), they started spamming me with different numbers!
I have no idea who it is and I am extremely private about giving out my personal number, even to the banks. Maxis can’t do jack shit and I’m left annoyed. Any suggestions? What BB application can I use to block them out?
Sorry to hear that you are being harassed by someone. It can be very hard to determine the identity of the caller unless we have access to the phone database or we work for the police. I was once amused to read in a forum where a debt collector accidentally called someone who worked in the Crimes Division of the Royal Malaysian Police. The person used his resources to determine the caller identity and scared the bejeesus out of that law firm (the people who made the calls).
I suggest you do not delete any of the “funny” SMS messages from your handphone. Store them somewhere in case you are persistently being harassed. You would need those numbers in your police and telco report. Also make a note of the numbers and the time the calls were made.
Thank you for contributing those numbers. I will add those numbers in my next update.
There are many BB phone blocking apps out there. Unfortunately, none of them allows us to copy and paste large number of phone numbers at once. We have to enter one number at a time, which can be a pain if we have many numbers. Go to your BB App World and go to Search. Type something like “phone block”. Click Utilities and you will see a list of phone blocking apps. Some popular apps are the SMS Blocker (both SMS and phone) and Call Block – Call Annihilator. You can read the reviews to get an idea which app to use. There are some which are free and some paid.
Please don’t give CC info (expiry date & 3 digits behind card). They will know our CC No but these 2 info forever won’t know. This info I got from Bank PIC.
Yes, very good advice. Be very alert when asked about any personal details on the phone.
03 7623 3888 – Standard Chartered, credit card sales telemarketer
Much thanks. I will add this number to the list in my next update.

Thanks for your encouragement. Hmmm…it seems pervert calls are more common than I thought. I will add these numbers in my list in the next update.

A scammer with name Nora. Claiming from Menara Kuala Lumpur and to give Menara KL card for all visa and mastercard holder. Will ask for your card expiry date. Don’t fall for it.
If you insist on not giving out your card info, they will use some software (maybe) to make the call’s quality poor and hung up them self.
0147283741 – scammer
I forgot his name. Claiming to be from Maybank and want to give touch-n-go card which forgotten to be given to you when you first get the credit card. Will ask for your card info for confirmation. Do not fall for it.
The same tactic as above, will make the call’s quality poor then hung up.
you’ve been warned.
Much thanks for those numbers. I will add them to the list in my next update.
Dude you are a god…..and saviour to the ‘common man’
Thanks for your compliments! A god, wow!
Very helpful website. But hope u will not sell our emails to other spammers. Haha just joking.
Thanks for your visit. Personal details, if any, and emails are for my reference only in case I might want to email the person in private for further information or clarification. Anyway, visitors can always supply me with fake email addresses if they are concern about their email abuse or if I were to be forced to reveal their details under severe duress.
Omg! +60 3 9543 6140 called me days ago, they said they are from maxis and asked my to provide my IC to clarify whether I am the owner or not. They just asked me whether I am satisfy with the service plan and gave me 500 free message. If they are scammer, what can they do with my IC number??? Please help!!!!!!
Did you receive the free 500 messages as promised? You can call Maxis (go to their webpage to determine their call centre number) and ask if that number (03-9543-6140) belongs to them and whether they have recently called you to offer you this so-called free messages promotion. As I understand, Maxis would offer free SMS without having to call you or having you to first confirm your identity. Maxis will just send an SMS to you and inform that you can now make XXX number of free SMS. If you suspect you have been scammed, I advise you to make a police report so that you can be protected in case your IC has been used fraudulently. Good luck.
I don’t think the police will do anything, I have been scammed before in kl for RM2000 and I have made a police report, I told the police guy that I know where the scammer are and asked them to follow to track the scammer. But they just asked me to go this balai, then when I reached another police station, the police there again asked me to go another police station again, I have made in total 3 police reports but nothing happens after that. Totally disappointed at out malaysia police… Hopefully they are really from maxis because they can even provide my full name and my home telephone number
Sorry to hear about your experience. Sometimes making the police report is to safeguard ourselves in case of any fraud case in the future. We can always produce the police report to “save our skin” and say something like, “See, I made a police report on such and such a date, so how can I be involved in this fraud?”
I was searching “who call me : 03-26015000″ and found your blog. Thanks for sharing the information. Just to add a number +55 55817. Received call from this number few days ago but I didn’t answered. Country code = Brazil, must be scammer.
Thanks for the contribution. I will keep the number on the KIV list. If someone reports the same number, then I will add the number to the above list. Thanks again for your comments and contribution.
Good job bro…
My pleasure.
Pls advice me I m using iPhone 4s. What is the apps that can help me to block those unwanted call? I have try once but many is not working at all. Pls advice. Tq.
I have never owned or used an iPhone before, so I cannot give you any good advice. As far as I know, iPhone strangely does not have a phone block app. But there is a good app called iBlackList (cost USD12) that allows your phone to block predefined phone numbers. However, this requires jailbreaking your iPhone to install the app. I am not sure if you are willing to do this. You can get more info here:

Hope this helps.
This no. called me yesterday 0378824346 and this no. called me today 0378824344. They hang up when i pick up. Called back, after 3 dial tone disconnected. Both no. same symptom.
I too am very curious about this “call then hang up” phenomenon. The 03-7882-4346 is a law firm for collecting debts. The other number is new to me. I will add this number to my list in my next update.
What a good job done chris,
I stumble upon your link on someone’s tweeter and thought why not share this information which i received with others who have encounter sort of similar event. Be alert at all times people.
Latest Phone Scam
This is real-life encounter (8/3/12), phone scam.
1. I received a call from a Malay lady, number shown on my mobile phone: +25013169.
2. This lady spoke in Malay, informed that she is from POS Malaysia. She read out my name and IC number, then informed that there were 2 high court letters addressed to me but could not be delivered.
3. She will fax the letters to a police station, and will request personnel from the police station to contact me later.
4. She gave a reference no. for the letter: 49951, and asked me to check with the police personnel who will call later, to ensure that they are the correct person acting on the correct letters.
5. 10 minutes later I received a call from one lady, identified herself as Madam Cheah, spoke in Malay, saying from Bukit Aman Police HQ. Number shown on my mobile phone: +60322662222.
6. I know this is a scam, so I purposely spoke rudely to her (asked her to speak louder etc.) She got angry, said that if I don’t believe her, to call back the number to verify, then hung up.
7. I did a search through internet, confirmed that the number +60322662222 is indeed from Bukit Aman HQ.
8. Instead of using my mobile phone to call back, I used Skype to call the number. A Malay lady picked up the call and I checked with her whether this is Bukit Aman, she replied yes, then I hung up.
9. Quickly I ran through a few postings in the internet on such scams.
10. In between, they called again and left “missed” calls.
11. From postings in the internet, apparently if you called them back using the mobile phone, it will be connected directly to them (the syndicate).
12. But if you call using landline (Telekom), you will be connected to the REAL Bukit Aman.
13. So I used the landline and called the number, a male police officer answered the phone.
14. I told him my story, he confirmed that this is a scam, and said that many victims have already called them today and they are working with the multimedia commission investigating this.
15. The police officer confirmed that the syndicate is using a phone phishing technique, to make the number appearing as from Bukit Aman when they called.
16. If you called back using your mobile phone, probably there are someone from the mobile phone company working behind with them, will direct your call to the syndicate.
Sharing the above encounter with you so that you will not fall victim to this latest scam.
Thank you very much on helpful share. I am sure all would appreciate your experience about this high-tech and bold scam. The perpetrators are very daring to take on the Police by phishing their HQ phone number. However, I am very disappointed on at how the police are solving this. This scam has been going on since 2010, and yet the scam still continues today.
Thank you again for your share.
Thanks bro…. really appreciated…Keep the good work
Thank you, my pleasure.
wow, i got 4 missed called from 03-20284599. I try to call back but get back the result is “the number you have called is not in service”. Last Saturday, I had applied a OCBC credit card at OCBC bank counter @ One-Utama shopping mall. Will it be possible that this number called me just because my information have been leakage? So it was a scammer rite? Luckily I never pick up those strange number, or else I will be deceived by them!
Thank you so much for your info!!
The phone number is from OCBC and you did apply for a credit card, so it is possibly from OCBC calling you about the status of your card. I would suggest calling OCBC credit card centre and enquiring if they did call you and if there are any problems with your application.
hi..pls add this number too >> 03-23023900
The number is from Maxis. Is there a reason why you want to add this number?
Useful information indeed.. Thanks!
TQ!
0327196600 <~ add this number.
It’s from Public Bank about their insurance.
Another rude lady ..from credit card(rudely hide her identity) from no 0162271040
Thanks, but which bank? Do you know?
hi bro..I want to highlight here..my GF had been cheated by this no..it is stated in ur list..buts its too late..0178822964
Sorry to hear your GF’s experience. It is also in the news lately about the increased in online purchase scammers. Now I am more wary about purchasing stuff through online auctions or sole sellers. I typically asked for CODs.
03-7950 1177
This number they said is hong leong bank office…izit true?
According to my sources, yes.
I have been a victim.. and when I know about this number, it is to late already. 603- 20340777 (AIA Tune Hotel), he is claiming his name is Azri. I already give up my debit card number (front only) and My Account number.. This is my first time dealing with a telemarketer. Few days later.. I realize my account has been deducted. Should I be worry? Today I go to maybank to replace my card and make a report.. but I’m still paranoid knowing that they already have my private details. I feel mad at myself for foolishly giving out such private details and not knowing the risk.
Did they ask if you wanted a room at Tune Hotel and you said yes? Anyway, if Maybank has replaced your card, it means your previous card (and its number) is useless and cannot be used anymore. I wouldn’t worry.
0320544672… this number called and i gave my IC no, i m very worried right now as i duno what they might do with it.. help, is it true from AIA or is it fraud?
got called by this number and i gave my IC no.. can they do anything with my full name and IC number, claiming that they r AIA and they got my info from tune hotel, i m seriously worried at the moment. how?
Jac, the best is to use a landline telephone and call AIA Call Centre (use the web to find their number) to ask about this number and if they had call you. Describe to them the phone conversation.
This is why I hate telemarketers because it is so hard to tell if they are scammers or they just want our private details to sell to other marketers. If they are scammers, I suspect they might impersonate a bank, for example, and ask for more details from you (like CC no) using your full name and IC to gain your trust. Be vigilant in the future and avoid giving details over the phone.
Thank you very much!! this is very helpful. Please add this number 016 – 2086 214, I got this call on March 20, 2012 from malay lady. Her name is Nxxxxa. She told me that she was calling to promote a discount card from credit card center ( don’t know which CC center) , that can give more than 50% discount to any hotel that I wish to book/stay. She relates this with MATTA Fair. I automatically replied that I am not interested since I got the same call, same number but different name…I could not recall who. The modus operandi is the same, to charge my credit card with RM 4++ so that I can get the discount card, valid whole life. She has all my information including the card number.. When I declined, she rudely told me ‘since you are having hearing problem..it’s ok mam’ Luckily, she did not charged anything to my card. Do you think I need to report this to my CC banker? I think I should.
Hmmm…very suspicious. 50% discount card for any hotel and pay only once for life? Wow, that’s even better than time share! Yes, you were right to decline her. If it is some scam, she probably needs more information from you; otherwise, she would have already charged your card since she has your CC number. I wouldn’t worry. But a call to your bank’s CC is a good idea to alert them of any suspicious activities. If it is not too much of a trouble, it is best to cancel the current CC and get a new one.
