Current Projects

Weather generation, oil palm modeling, and generative AI

2025 — 2026

Combines a stochastic weather generator and an oil palm growth model with generative AI so agriculture students can run and interrogate their own planting scenarios. Funded under UPM's Incentive Grants for Research of Teaching and Learning (GIPP).

GIPP 9323794 · RM16,000

Predicting oil palm water stress

2022 — 2025

Identifies the plant and soil indicators that predict the risk and severity of water stress in oil palm, pairing field measurements of stomatal conductance and leaf water potential with soil moisture regimes. Funded by the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme.

FRGS/1/2022/WAB04/UPM/02/2 · RM202,690

Washed rice water as fertilizer and soil amendment

2022 — 2024

Tests the wastewater from rinsing rice as a liquid plant fertilizer, tracking its nutrients and microbial populations through fermentation and its effects on plant growth, soil chemistry, and leaching across contrasting soil textures.
